Weaving as Social Practice

Field Weaving

Rhoneymeade Fest 2025

Field Weaving was installed during the weekend at Rhoneymeade Arboretum in Center Hall, Pa, inviting the audience to sit with and work on a three-dimensional frame loom. Participants played with materials, colors, and techniques, and worked shoulder-to-shoulder with friends and strangers, ultimately creating a collaborative tapestry.

Field Weaving is designed to combine conventional and recycled supplies with natural materials, to form one cohesive art object. The structure itself is portable, made site-specific by the people and environment that contribute to filling in its blank spaces.
